Governor Fayose describes the alleged beating of a woman, in spite of her status as a nursing mother, as regrettable.
Fayose, speaking on a monthly public enlightenment programme, named, the governor explains, on Sunday, March 19, said he was particularly disturbed by media reports linking policemen to the alleged beating of the woman, in spite of her status as a nursing mother.
The governor said the police action which was coming barely two weeks of his celebrating Women’s Day with funfare was regrettable.

He noted that the law on violence against women was still subsisting in the state, and that the law would be applied as appropriate in this matter.
Meanwhile, the state Ekiti state commissioner of police, Abdullahi Chafe, has claimed that Mrs Adeyeye was detained for allegedly slapping a policeman on duty and tearing his uniform, adding that the matter was still under investigation.
Toyin Adeyeye, her two months old baby, Heritage, and her younger brother, Adeniyi Dada were on Friday, March 17, allegedly beaten up and detained for refusing to give bribe at a checkpoint.
The woman was arrested with her baby and a brother at the checkpoint in front of Ekiti Pavilion, where they were allegedly beaten by about five policemen, who later took them to the New Iyin Police station
But the woman has dismissed the police narrative of the event, insisting she was arrested for allegedly refusing to give bribe to the policemen.
